Default some questions (2 escs;rear steer; clod stall)

I am new to crawling and bought a CC. It is the prebuilt and has no electronics except for motors (not bad for $49). I thought I would put in it a receiver from my dx6i and use two escs to be able to do the two stick thing. If I did this, would I need to put a BEC on the receiver? Also, wont the juice coming into the receiver from the two escs fry the receiver? Why does everybody want to lock out the rear steering? What is clod stall?

Sorry for all of the questions and thx in advance for the answers!

Yes on the BEC
2 ESC on 1 receiver fry!! NO it won't, if wired properly!
No rear steering? Because its not comp legal!
Clod stall is when the front wheels turn faster than the rear wheels. Creating a slower rotation on the rear wheels. This is due in part to gears and wiring set up's.

Thanks so much for the replies! Would this wiring work if I used two separate batt packs? The power coming from the BECs built into the escs wont over power the receiver? Im wanting two separate power units linked only by the receiver. Or is that just ridiculous thinking?

Hmmm, I have been running my 2 ESC rigs with both BEC wires plugged into the receiver for years with out an issue. Even up to a 4 cell lipo. I do use a external BEC for my servos....

Let the ESC's BEC power the receiver.

Use only one pack with a y-harness, works best that way.

i run two novak rooster crawlers and two drive bats to my two 55t motors,,one rx,,one esc has the red wire pulled out of the rx plug so it doesnt provide power to the rx. i use the power switch from both esc's but only one powers the rx. this was direct informationa dn instruction from John E. Hallman at Novak...

i use the rear esc to power the rx as it usually gets used less when crawling,,front motor pulls more at least on mine
