The kit you have to build- it comes with stock lockers 4ws steering set up, rock lizards ( junk) The ARTR version has a better body for crawlers, better lockers, better tires and straight axles in the back. |

As virgin RC newb I am going to advise you to get the ARTR !! This past friday my patience ran out and I picked up the AX10 RTR @ my LHS... fun but it was lacking, to fast for crawling, changed to the 14t, still fast, hard to control and did not feel comfy letting the kids play with it..... 12 hrs later back at my LHS im looking for a new ESC/motor combo... noting in stock for crawling, but they owner went and got his crawler (from is house) ripped out his rooster and 55t motor combo, handed it to me and said have fun this weekend...... Installed the combo and OMG ! night and day difference... total control, locked the front diff and it goes everywhere.... and a added bonus... battery life doubled.. kids have no trouble @ all now and we are having a blast with it...... So again.. get the RTR and pick up some good electronics... trust me you will be happy !! Plus working on the truck is half the fun..... Disclaimer: Total newb advice above.... but I wish I would have went the RTR route.. saved a few bucks Last edited by spidaso; 10-04-2009 at 09:29 AM. |

I'll give you a rundown. The plus side to an artr compaired to the rtr. Artr has: 1. Better prepainted body. 2. Sinister lockers front and rear. 3. Preassybled. 4. Rear strait axle. 5. Aluminum links and steering links ( 30 degree bent in rear) 6. Better tires, hammers arent the best, but WAY better than lizards. 7. And it doents have the ugly green anodizing. My 2 cents, get the artr. |

main difference in the 2 is the kit ax10 came out first. so it has all the "stock" parts the artr is a mix of new parts axial came out with to upgrade the ax10 (as mentioned before) if your looking to get out there and crawl in a day i would suggest the scx10 tr or the new ax10 RTC as they come already setup and are upgraded decent enough to actually do things with (they may not come with all the fancy aluminum but sometimes plastic is more forgiving) |

I bought the ax10artr and was told that i would have to buy a motor and all electronics but when I got it i opened the box and discovered that there was an axial 55t motor and 14 tooth pinion already installed in to it and was really happy cause I really didn't want to use the 27t that i already had while waiting for the hobby shop to order one for me. one thing i liked over the kit is the fact it was up and running with in an hour

I suggest the ARTR for the same reasons above. The RTR is cool to get up and running same day. But the stock electronics are no good and you will quickly be wanting better. Plus the metal parts are a benefit in my opinion, especially the better steering link. Plus the plastic links may be forgiving at times but I personally don't like the flex they create.

ya the plastic link do flex alot I read rc driver and they did a article on the rtr and i was impressed with the way it crawled but i perfer the look of the metal links and being that they are bent it will preform a lot better when climbing
