It depends on your setup, on my ax10, I run a 1500 split pack 8 cell (2/3A). I get good run times and keep my center of gravity low. On my wifes scx10, she runs a 3300 7 cell (SC). Her run times are more than double of mine. Check out www.cheapbatterypacks.com for some info.

the stock esc is good for up to 10 cells. I'm running 8 cells on a rooster crawler without any issues.

Where are your batteries mounted? The stock batt plate puts them to high and makes your rig top heavy. I have my batts on the front axle with homemade mounting plates. If you want more info let me know.

What u need is a good lipo/ballencer combo charger. I run a triton eq for all my batt. . I run 1350 size 2s lipo on my crawler
and i get about an hr with a goat system with the 18.5 motor. Lipos are the way to go. I fought buying but when i did couldnt believe the diference.

The stock esc doesn't have a low voltage cutoff so you'll need to wire in that. Other than that, just batts and charger to go lipo

lol, Yeah they explode but so does NiMH if you dont take care of them correctly. Its a common thing that scares off people from using Lipo's. Follow the rules to handle and take crae of them and if you purchase good batteries by a reputable company, then youll have nothing to worry about.
