| Selling boats buying AX10
I'm new to crawling but have had many cars, boats and a 1:1 crawler. My delema is that I would like a kit AX10 Scorpion w/ a few upgrades. It looks to me like most of the kits are trucks w/ straight lower links and the ARTR scorpion has the bent lower links (AX9004). Do I have to buy the kit and replace many of the parts? Should I build from scratch or is there something in the middle? I'm looking at the TGRC ARTR but would like it in a kit. Is this a factory set-up or has TGRC added anything? Thanks for your sugestions.

Trial gear just buys the Axial kits and sells them at a marked up price, notice at the bottom how it says "add $200 to have the kit built" All the ARTR kits I have seen come pre built....What are they charging you for? Nothing aginst TG, but I would question that. I would hit you local hobby shop and check there first so you know what you are gitting before you order online. No matter what you buy you will be upgrading parts....just to make your rig crawl just a little bit better....it's an addiction, esp if you have a 1:1 crawler. Do your research on RCCrawler an figure out what everone likes and build you kit that way. In the long run it will cost you about the same. | No problem, a lot of people like the LCC's I looked at one, and the biggest turn off for me was the fact that the axles are worm gear driven. This takes more motor speed to run the crawler at the same speed as a set-up with a ring and pinion axle (like the ax10). Some people say it is a better crawler out of the box than an AX10, I have not seen one run yet so I can't say. I am very happy with my AX10. |

As I suggest to everyone else, buy a 20$ star from here: http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/payments.php This way you support this dome of knowledge plus you get access quickly to the for sale forums. There you will find great deals on axles, tranny, chassis and anything needed to build your own rig the way you want it. Or you can find several used rigs ready to run or rollers without electronics. These 20$ will save you much more in the long run. Trust me I have saved 100s' of dollars by just searching for info here and avoiding useless parts and buying from members here. |

| Buy the Axial kit part # AX90001 its on sale at TCSCrawlers.com for $169 Then buy the SWX chassis kit part # AX30506 sam place for $65 Build add electronics and enjoy. Research. There are tons of SWX builds and it is a great chassis to start out with. For some reason a lot of people here disagree with me and say why waste money on the kit when you can buy axles and a trans and save money blah blah blah but trust me if you are wanting to buy NEW get the kit and an SWX chassis...can't go wrong. If you wanna go used buy a star. Did I say research? |

I agree with Evil, this is a good way to start. Unless you are able and want to make your own custom parts you are better starting with the kit. As far as the LCC, it is an otstanding crawler out of the box, but in my opinion the ax10 is a much better starter rig. The LCC is focused more to competition crawling. |
