Default Charging 12v with 2amp Charger

Is there any downside to charging my 12v with a 2amp charger. I've read that I can get better run time from doing this; or did i not understand this method correctly?

What type of battery is it? Is it a ten cell Ni-MH pack or a lead-acid battery or something else? Most chargers cannot charge more than 8 cells. What charger are you using?

The charger i'm using now is the one that came with it (Nylint Scorpion 1:6) The charger i want to use is an auto/marine charger that can charge a 12vdc battery at a 2adc rate. Makes since that i could do this, but i dont want to fry my new battery.
