Default Is it possible to soften springs?

I bought a set of RC4WD scale shocks with internal springs. I'm wanting to run just shy of full droop and the springs are too stiff. Is there a way to soften them up at all?

The shocks themselves are pretty stiff as well, any advice on getting them moving a little easier would be appreciated also.

I'm curious about this as well, I've been trying to stretch and soften bic lighter springs for internals in my Losi micro crawler. I've tried heating with a torch briefly but it makes weak spots, next I was thinking toaster oven and let it cool slowly.

As for getting the shocks moving easier..... Green Slime

You could drill out the holes in the pistons but BE CAREFUL. Think "small incriments" lol.

Its worth a shot. It should make the metal a bit softer but who knows what the factory heat treatment is like. You could also stretch them well past where you want them and cut of the end. That should soften them up.

In case they dont work out, you can look through www.mcmaster.com they have a ton of springs in different sizes/weights.
