Is there anyway you might could groove rock lizards like you can an actual tire to get more grip?

you can groove any tire to let the tread flex better just be careful the tires are soft rubber and not to thick you don't want to cut a hole

a lot of people do. You can use a dremmel and cut grooves or scissors and sipe your treads.

LOVE my flat irons...

You can also sype your tires with a hobby knife...just be really careful not to cut though
