Default Lipo ESC limitations

What are the limitations on an ESC to run a lipo battery pack? I understand that I can simply add a lipo cut off to an ESC to prevent it from discharging too much...Is there anything else I should be aware of before mating a lipo pack and an ESC?

so does the ESC have to be lipo ready? Am I wrong in thinking I can get a lipo cutoff and that will suffice? What is the 2s or 3s?

The esc does not have to be lipo ready if you install a lipo cut off. 2s & 3s is 2 cell & 3 cell. It tells you how many volts the battery is. Each lipo cell is 3.7 volts so a 2s is 7.4 volts & a 3s is 11.1v . Make sure your esc can handle the voltage.

2S stands for 2 cells in Series. This means that a 2S battery should have a voltage of 3.7V * 2 = 7.4V.

You need to make sure that your ESC can handle the input voltage of the lipo. In addition, to make sure that you do not harm the lipo by dropping the voltage too low, you need to find a way to stop you from running the truck until the pack is completely dead. You can do this by one of three ways:
1) check the voltage manually
2) install a LVC
3) install an ESC with a built in LVC

If yo do use the cutoff dont let your battery run below 3 volts per cell. So for a 2 cell it should never drop below 6 volts or a 3cell below 9 volts. Unless you like your rig well done. It COULD catch fire but sometimes it will just kill the battery
