grind the grub screw with a dremel or file and once you get close to all the way it will pop right off.....your replacing it anyways so thats what I would do to get it off.

Default Dremel

Buying a Dremel was one of the smartest moves I have made in a while... that's not saying much.... :? Anyways go get one... indispensable in my opinion. I didn't think I would use mine much... find myself grabbing it all the time for all kinds of random crap.

I bought mine at Lowe's but you can get one at any big box hardware store. Here is the one I bought available at Amazon if you prefer not to leave your couch.
http://www.amazon.com/Dremel-200-1-2...2&sr=1-2-fkmr0

It's a basic two speed corded model that comes with some accessories. I prefer not messing with batteries on a tool that I don't necessarily need to be that mobile with, and the basic two speed model has always been good enough for me.

Just steer clear of the kool-aid stand as you enter the soul sucking abyss.

I fth escrew's hole is strupped out (sounds like it may)Here's what I did. It's easy.stripped set screw fix
Also there's a standard hex bit, 3/64 IIRC, that'll fit nice and snug. hold a soldering iron to the bit till it starts to get hot. Should expand enough for purchase. Won't damage the yoke either
If it's just seized on, You may try heating the screw up with a soldering iron, tightn it a bit and back it out. Sometimes the threads are seized, and need to be "broken" loose. Penetrating oil or oil of wintergreen, will creep in and loosen it up sometimes but you gotta let it work for a few hours most of the time.
could you have crossthreaded the grub when you put it in previously? Unless you did that, used red loctite or it's rustedfrom exposure, it should come loose with minimal effort normally.

lots of guys use loktight on those grub screws.

definatly heat it up
I usually just use a lighter.
but before you do that.

if you are using a monkey wrench=l wrench dont.
go buy a set of hex wrenches.

and dont get the ones with the rounded tips.

once you got a full tiped wrench heat up the area the screw is.
then lightly tap the wrench into the screw for alittle more bite.

I bet that does it.

Exclamation Been here done this!

The set screw is 1.6mm hex, and any replacement hex wrench / Allen wrench will twist due to the torsion effect. My solution was to find a screwdriver bit that was the right size. The shaft on it is short enough to withstand the torque, and Dewalt makes a bit set for about $6 USD (I know there are some jolly good fellows from across the pond that post here) The item number is DW2068 9 Pc Hex Drive Tip Set. I put the bit in my screwdriver, NOT POWER DRILL OR SCREW GUN, and it broke the thread locker loose and did not damage anything.
