Default New to lipo question...

Hey guys,

I am new to lipo and just got my first set of 1300mah 30c 11.1v lipo batteries by gforce. My question is do I need to charge them, do they have a charge on them already, or do I need to top them off? How do I break them in?

Thanks,
Ryan

Yes you should charge them before you run them. You can not hurt them as long as your using the right charger with the right amps and volts.

1. Use a good charger that has a ballancer on it (the Thunder AC 6 is a great charger)

2. Always use the correct amps when charging any battery (1300mAh battery should be charged @ 1.3amps).

3. Use a Lipo safe bag when charging and storing your batteries

4. Make sure your ESC has a low voltage cut off or your using one externaly

5. Never get your lipos wet unless you bought waterproff ones from Maxamps

6. Do not drop or be rough with your Lipos

7. Always charge your lipos with the correct Volts!

Default lipo question

I havent bought a lipo yet that didn't have a half charge. If i were u I would run it dead and then give her a full charge. I would use a lipo fire proof bag they are cheap and safe!!!!!

Bad advice. running a lipo dead will ruin the battery. Lipo's do NOT have a memory effect and you will NOT harm them be charging them when they already have a charge on them.

from my research, this is dead on. the lipos i've bought all had some charge on them, but i top them off everytime before i use them, whether they were new, used until esc's cut-off kicked in, or just partially used. i always top them off to full capacity before using.
