| Which crawler should I buy?
Hi I am new to crawling and I want to buy a crawler for about £250, I would prefer it to be a rtr and I am thinking of buying traxxas waterproof electronics. I have been looking around and found a few the scx10 tr or scx10 honcho tr or maby the crawler king by hpi. I would also like it to look scale as I won't be using it in any comps.

if you are going to buy waterproof electronics then why buy a rtr? if you run traxxas waterproof servo you have to run a servo saver. One tumble and gears will be shot. The xl-5 waterproof speed control works ok. There are other waterproof options though.

I want a rtr because I don't have the money at the moment to buy all the electronics etc. And I also want to use it as soon as it comes as I already have 2 3000 nimh battery packs and a charger.

Save your money and go with the RTR Honcho. Then when those electronics fail, then replace them. Don't waste your money with an RTR if you are just going to replace all the electronics. |

| You can't buy an SCX10 TR ARTR or in kit form, it comes RTR only (trust me, I looked.) You can buy all the parts separate and assemble it yourself but that would be a major PITA.

I agree with everyone, don't waste your money on a RTR if you plan on upgrading the electronics. People can correct me here, but fresh electronics can run upwards of $300. And thats just the top if the iceberg. I could spend almost $500 to put in exactly what I'd like. Brushless ESC and motor $200. Hitec servo with 172 oz/in of torque $100. Reciever $50. Lipo batteries $100 -$200. Crap, crawling just got expensive. I have a Venom. Just buy the correct body and it looks perfectly scale. Welcome to the addicting world of rock crawling. |

I'm not sure if I should buy a dingo now because they are much easier to get and I could buy the longer aluminium links and get the honcho body. About the electronics I it is best to wait as 'THE PARTS GUY' said untill they break and then get waterproof electronics.

Look at it this way, If you buy a kit you will still need paint, masking tape, & finishing supplies & ALL the Electronics, charger, battery. If you got a TR (RTR) you would only need batteries & charger. For about $25 more than the Kit (us prices) you will be ready to have Fun! I would spend the $ on a nice charger & batteries before buying diff. ESC. The servo is a whole diff. story YOU WILL NEED A NEW ONE I've submerged Hitec Servos (645, 5645) many times and never had one Fail I would recommend a Hitec servo over a Traxxas, Hitec are "water resistant".... Just my .02 |

x2 on the 645/5645. Good power for thier price ($50), you can get them wet, and they have metal gears. If its your first rig, there is nothing wrong with RTR. |

I bought a honcho kit and i am loving it, and i havent even been able to run it yet. I havent built an RC car for several years and this one seems to be very nicely built. I cant wait to get the last little things together and run its first battery in it. My vote is for the the Honcho. |

I was thinking I could buy the scx10 tr and covert it by buying the longer aluminium links and the honcho body would this be a good idea? Or what other bodies would fit the scx10 tr without much modification?
