Default Some SCX10 questions

I have picked up an SCX10 kit and have decided to go with the RC4wd Outcry ESC and RC4wd 35T motor. Since I am a newb and this is my very first scaler I have no clue what pinion to get for this setup. I will be using the Stock SXC10 spur gear.

Also the specs on the ESC say :Rated current: 300A forward, 150A reverse.
What does that mean? Does that mean that is the maximum that it can handle? I am also trying to decide what battery to get for it. I have a couple of 2s lipos that are 1800 MAH and 20C discarge. Would these work? Take it easy on me please I am a newb to the crawlers and most electrics.

THanks
Brandon

the stock 14t pinion should be fine with a 35turn motor, and i'm not sure if the outcry has a lipo cut-off or not. the site says it's compatible with 2s to 4s lipo but mentions nothing about a cut-off. if it doesn't, you might be able to get an external voltage cut-off or lipo alarm.
hope this helps

Ok thanks for the info Turn. I honestly didnt think about it coming with a pinion since it didnt come with electronics. I will use the stock pinion and see how all goes. Thanks for the advice.

I would start with a 18t pinion. I would also reconsider the outcry ESC. I don't know anyone one running it personally but I would just have peice of mind goin with a Sidewinder ESC. Alittle more expense but coming from a more reputable electronics company. Nothing against RC4WD, I love their scale products, but I'm not 100% sure about their electronics.

As far as pinion goes, on mine I run a 16t, it is a good compromise. I have good wheel speed when I need it, plus I still have very good low end control. Granted I am running a tourqmaster, but I had very nice control with the sidewinder I used to run too.
