Do you want a scaler or a comp rig? Which one do you think you would have more fun with? You will end up spending about the same. For scale based rigs, I'd recommend the scx10. Everyone will probably agree with that.

Get you an RTR Honcho or RTR Dingo and be done with it. Add batteries and go. Branch out after that. |

Do you have anyone in your area that runs one or the other? If you have a group of friends running scalers, then go with the SCX. If they all run Comp trucks, go AX-10. It's no fun if you are the odd ball.

| Agree 100% but what if you are alone? In my opinion a scaler is less boring, you can do lot's of fun scale upgrades to the crawler, buying and building scale accessories, and you can still go and have fun.

I get way more use out of my scalers than I do my comp rigs. Pick up an SCX10 rtr. Get out and have fun, you will not be disappointed... |

thank you to all who answered my questions. I think i am going to go the honcho route. I have more questions too. i have limited acess to the computer, so i dont have the luxury of searching for info, please be kind. Is it better to run lipo, life, or the standard battery??? I hear alot about a dx3 controller. what is it??? I hear that you can run a winch??? they make one that small???? Can i run one off my stock controller??? Is it better to get a rtr or the kit and what is the avantages either way???? Sorry if this seems dumb, but im a newbie. I have a couple friends that might get cars to if it goes well for me. The more the merrier right. Thanks in advance. Last edited by SNOWYOTA; 05-25-2010 at 07:13 AM. Reason: more questions |

Get the nicest stuff you can afford... you wont be sorry stepping up in quality. Dx3 is a 3 channel spektrum radio/transmitter... it runs on 2.4 ... which means that you will never have any problem with interference from other transmitters that people are using and therefore less glitchy and in the long run much easier to use. there are many distinctions in the spektrum series do your homework before purchasing a 3 channel. it really depends on what class you want to crawl in and what kind of crawler you have or plan to have in the future. sorry for the long answer. the spektrum dx3r will cover almost everything you will ever want except for twin stick... which you probably dont need to think about |

Lastly... I bought mine off Craigslist... but there is a great classified section here. it is worth it to buy your star if you dont have it and get a great RTC here from another member. The RTR or RTC kits usually are not up to snuff. They are often with cheaper radios and lots of plastic. You wont be sorry spending a little more and getting what you want.. although there are plenty of RTC packages that will get you going for cheap... AXIAL is always a good start.. I am a noob so please take my advice as a grain of salt... but i have still done some research and landed up with a comp bully MOA that rips... |
