Default How to "bench test"

so, you may have seen my thread about my crawler that got run over, you may not. Regardless, I'd like to take it apart and find out if the electronics are still good. I'd like to see if the motor still turns, that kind of thing.

What all would I need in order to do this? The wires are pretty damaged and I think I ruined my old battery when I connected it trying to test things that way so I don't want to repeat that mistake.

are there any special tools required?

anything else I will need?

Thanks in advance.

What kind of truck are you referring to? What electronics? Got any pics of the damage?

Pix and info can be found in this thread:
Sad, sad day in the life of an AX10...

it is an AX-10
Dose that matter when bench testing? I'm hoping that anything I buy can be used for multiple types of trucks.

You just hook it up the same way without it being installed in your crawler.

You can test the motor out by holding two wires to any battery..AA, AAA, C, or D and touch the motor poles.

basically all i do when i bench test is hook everything up like it would be on the truck, just without the truck... there might be a better way but i dont know of it.....

Yes, I found the thread after I posted the question.

First, it looks like your shock cap came off and oil got everywhere. I would suggest disassembling all of the electronics and cleaning the oil from everything. Nitro Cleaner would work well from this. Disassemble the motor and do the same. It would be a good idea to reoil the bearings after you are finished cleaning the motor. Then, as mentioned above, just assemble them on your workbench, aside from your crawler, and see what works...

BTW, that truck is totally fixable.
