| What rock crawler to get? Need inputs!
Hey guys Ive already got an SCX10, and now i want a rock crawler. However, im from Denmark so we dont have that many "standard" rock crawling places here. its more wood, forest areas, rubble and dirt "mountains" etc - so my thought in getting a rock crawler is getting something extremely mean. Were talking "Hey, check out that (insert massive obstacle here, be it hedge, wall, or other things) lets try to climb it". I seen some videos on youtube with people doing "alternate" rock crawling where they almost scale walls and what not - thats probably going to be the type i will end up doing! I just want something that can climb anything, and is extremely precise - i have been looking at getting the XR10, but if anyone knows of a better kit for my needs, then please chime in! Here is a link to a video of my crawler ( its the grey cherokee ) so you have an idea of the areas we do crawl in - however, my primary objective wouldnt be this type of area for the rock crawler, as i figure it will be too easy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SEfOqVu8y_0 - and thanks for any advice/input! |

Depends on your budget. How much are you willing to spend?

if your not competing against other moa's I would consider another axial ax10, that was all your parts are interchangable. the axials when built to comp are very capable trucks. I would pick up a used one with all the bells and whistles. |

As for the AX10, i really dont like it - i know it might be good with upgrades, but i had one for about 30 minutes and i _hated_ it - it felt cheap and bad. I am probably wrong in feeling that way, but its either going to be the XR10, or a different brand im afraid. =/

Don't forget that when you decide what to get to take lots of pics and make a build thread. |

Ive decided to go for rebuilding my SCX 10, with a dig setup, and a complete overhaul of aluminium, hand brothers steering, and much much more. ill be making a thread. My initial thought is that i know the SCX, and i love it - so i will wait a bit and see what peoples impressions are once the XR10 hits europe!

Sounds like to me you need a Traxxas Summit. The terrain you described sounds perfect for it. I bashed the he'll out of mine. It goes fast, awd, can lock front / rear. And it can crawl decently slow. If you want a straight crawler. I would go with the XR10 hands down. Last edited by fa1rch1ld; 08-23-2010 at 05:45 PM. |

Already got a summit, - bought it thinking it was a crawler/basher - in reality i think its a basher/semi-crawler. Its okay - but its not 20% the fun my SCX is! Anyways, i have decided to re-build my SCX with a dig, some major upgrades and such, and then wait for a bit to have the XR10 released properly and read some feedback when its common in europe! - Thanks though for chiming in! |

Hehe, i made the all time mistake of getting my summit at the same time i got my scx10... poor summit. Its fun and all, but.. its not an scx. However, come winter, i hope things might change...seems like that might be the summits natural environment! |
