Default Upside down shocks

I am new to crawling and have a question about shocks. Looking at many of the picture here many people seem to mount their shocks upside down. Why and what are the advantages of this? Thanks in adavance.

Really, it is personal preference. Some say it is better for lowering your center of gravity, but the reason I ran them like that was to keep my losi shocks from leaking. Now runnin the axial comp shocks I don't have that issue.

the only reason I know is the COG thing, for the minimal amount it gains i'd rather run them in there intended orientation, upside down looks.....wrong? to me.

flipping them to help with a leaky shock is a good idea, as a bandaid, never thought of that.

I fliped shocks once cuz the shock cap was hitting the chassis during articulation. fliped the shocks, problem was solved.
