| Axial scx10 55,35 or 27t motor?
Hey guys I just finished building an axial scx10 and what motor should I run? A 55,35 or 27 turn? Thanx.

Depends on what you intend to do with it. My son had a 55t in his and he kept complaining it was too slow(he's a 7yr old that likes speed) He has a 21T in his now and he loves it. I have a 35T in mine and while slower, I like the way it performs on the rocks. For trail duty, a 27T is nice, but if you are doing my crawling, it depends.

I do mostly trai running and I have a 27T with 14/87 gearing. The truck has decent top speed and still crawls very well. I'm running 3s lipo, so that helps the speed too.

Sweet thanx I think I'll try a 35 and if it is to slow then I'll go 27. Thanks again.

35t is a good place to start....I have that in my SCX10 Chevy and it crawls great aqnd has decent wheelspeed...I got another scaler on the way with a 27t motor...see how that works...though I may pop in my Titan 12t |

im using a 35t In mine and love it. Its go good wheel speed when on the trail and then good torque for when on the rocks and climbing

The most common choice is a 35t motor for scalers and it has plenty of torque and speed. |

I run a 27t when I want to have some fun, but resort to a 55t with a 21t pinion on 3s for all around crawling. Pretty decent speed, enough to break stuff.

Will you be running lipo or nimh? Number of cells? More voltage will definitely change the game, regardless of which turn motor you're running. I like the 35T/3S lipo combo .

i've been looking for a good set-up myself that i want to be happy with and get as close to being "right for me" as possible on the first shot. mainly i don't want to spend even more on stuff i don't really need or want. it seems like just about everyone runs a 27T 35T or the 55T, so what's the deal with a 45T? not very many people seem to run them, are they just too borderline vs. the 35 and 55T. too pricey or what?

ive got a tamiya esc that came with the pajero, and the stock silver can wich is 27 turns. im running 19\87 or what ever is stock on a axial trans. i think a 18 or 17 would be perfect. im running a 7 cell nimh pack. its butter smooth, and still gets up and goes pretty good. heres some proof, this video is with the 19 pinion. its a lot steeper then it looks. |

| What he said! I run a 45 lathe in one of mine with 2s lipo and it is great for control when rock climbing but sucks for speed (14 pinion 87 spur). Love the slow control for technical stuff. But driving between obstacles sucks when trail riding. I run a 27 turn in another. It is much better for speed but the fine control on rocks lacks. So it is a toss up. A 35 would be better overall then either of my options. Kind of a best of both worlds. I plan on running a 35 in the 27 turn rig on 3 or 4s as funds for the new esc come along. I have seen 35 on 3s and it seems like a perfect setup for overall performance. Still nice control for rocks, but can really rip. I build mine for mainly rocks so that is the most important part for me. But if you plan on mud/speed then what you will desire may be different. |

Well my first and current motor on one of my SCX10s was an Axial 27T brushed machine wound...had decent torque but it sure had speed! Like a fast walking pace with gearing at 14/87. All my scale/comp rigs run 3S. Instead of dealing with dropping down to a 12T pinion I just went with a cheapo Chinese generic 35T machine wound....still running stronger than ever and geared it even higher lol 19/87 to compensate for some of the lost speed. But man that thing is fun! One time for just fun I dropped a a Titan 550 12T geared at 23/87 and that thing was wheelie popping ballistic!! Going with John Holmes 35T handwound next as my upgrade once I get my TTC rig built up with a BRXL waterproofed. |

I just put in a Novak 55T tonight with a 20t pinion in my SCX10 and on 7cell pack it's pretty close to being as fast as the old 27T stocker.

I scale comp and trail run my SCX10 based Hilux and with a 14 tooth pinion 87 spur and a HH 35t on 3s, it's perfect.
