Default worm gear vs bevel gear?

What are the pros/cons of a worm transmission such as the Losi vs a classic bevel gear transmission?

I like the worm concept since it is a simple design and comes with no freewheeling.

How about motors? Would either transmission work better with brushed or brushless? How about sensored brushless?

What choices are there for worm transmission? I've seen the Losi, and the 'worminator' line which is quite pricey.
