Default I need help starting....

Hey all! I need some advice on getting my son his first crawler. He's 10 btw. Is it possible to get into it for under $200 so he can try it out to see if he likes it? Thanks!

There's a couple cheap crawlers that are in the $200 range for everything you need from Exceed or Redcat but if he doesn't like crawling, you're stuck with it or at best it'll be harder to sell. If you spend a bit more for an Axial, new or used, you're more likely to get some money back from selling it. If he does like it then he's starting with a quality rig that has a ton of aftermarket support. Personally I'd go for a used Axial AX10 from the classifieds, you can get a pretty good deal on a quality crawler from someone who's upgraded to an XR10.

My first crawler was the Losi Mini Crawler. It's a pretty sweet starting point. Ready to run for around 200 dollars, lots of upgrades, and a little less expensive than the larger rigs.

Check out the Losi Mini Rock Crawlers (1/18th), great little trucks with tons of aftermarket support. They are also pretty popular so if he does not get into it you should be abe to sell it for a decent price to make your money back.
