Default Aligning Ends on Bent Lower Links??

This is probably the one of the ultimate newb questions but I've been checking around for a few days and haven't found an answer. Suppose I'm using bent delrin lower links that have 4mm set screws and revo ends, how do you align the ends if one of the link hits the rods but isn't in proper alignment? Do you just back it off a little and leave a small gap? I have a Bully ARTR and with the stock aluminum lower links the ends wouldn't line up properly unless I backed one of the ends out part way which would then leave the end a bit loose and not tight against the link, which just doesn't seem right, and moving the long set screw in or out does nothing. Am I missing something?

I usually just cut some little shims out of scrap lexan and put enough on to line the rod end up when tight.

if you're not too far off just turn it until it lines up. Or take it off and turn the set screw until it finally does line up. Just make sure you don't over do it twisting it on there because you can strip the threads and the links will pop off when you bind up.

Thanks for the tips, this is what I figured I would have to do but I just wanted to be sure. Adjusting the set screw will not help getting the ends lined up though since the threads are still going to be in the same position regardless of how far in or the set screw is in or out.

Thanks again.

+1..."unless" it allows either the link or rod end to bottom out the set screw in the hole, but then the other end will likely twist still allowing the misalignment yet again.

If you screw in the set screw further into the link (if you can) then the rod end shouldn't screw onto the set screw as far, thus shortening your links a little bit. This should only work if you need 1/8" of adjustment or so.

Thanks but adjusting the length isn't my concern, it's getting the ends to be lined up properly so that the hollow ball/link end is turned in the right direction. Thanks again for the reply though.

Just tighten it down, no need to overthink. It won't strip, I've never pulled a 4mm end it'll bend/break the link or pop the eye off first.
