1/10 is the most common, some 1/18 scale also. 1/18 is usually a 1.9 class. And 1/10 can either be 2.2 or 1.9 depending on scale or comp rigs.

Please correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't wheelbase enter into the classification as well as wheel size?

Competition rules go by tire size, and on the 2.2 class wb is 12.5 max, so I guess you could say wb enters into the equation. Most 2.2 class crawlers are 1:10, and like someone else mentioned, the 2.2 class is by far the most popular class.

One of the reasons 1/8 (supers) are not popular is cost. I've only seen the supers compete at larger comps, and only a handful where there.
