Installing Beadlocks? I put some Rover tires on my LNC last week, but when I was charging batteries and checking things out I noticed 3 out of 4 of my tires spinning oddly. Upon closer inspection it seems like I didn't seat the tires right before tightening or else they squeezed out while the rings were being tightened. I ended up missing the rally because I couldn't get them in right. Are you supposed to glue these in place before putting on the rings? Any tips in general in regard to beadlocks would be appreciated. |
A lot depends on the rims, some have a better groove, some don't. Same thing for tire, some have a better bead than others. Also, running a narrow rim on some tires makes it even harder to get the bead correct. In general....no....you do NOT need to glue the bead in. Do a search for "mason jar" in the tire forum (IIRC), it's a simple way to hold the bead in while getting the screws started. I get things set, drop on a ring, put in 3 screws (out of 6) and start working them in. They are evenly spaced around the ring and I can keep an eye on the bead while running the screws down. Try it and see. |
Thanks I appreciate the tip. |
