| Lipo Charging Problem with Thunder AC6
Everytime I hook it up to my Thunder AC6 charger, "It" being a Lipo Batt 3200 mAh, 7.4 V, 2S. I hook up the power leads (red to red and black to black) I hook up the 2S pigtail to the 2S balancing port/slot. I plug it into the wall and set it to Lipo Balance Charge, I set it to 3.2 A (3200mAh) and to 7.4 V (2S). I press and hold the start (green) button for 3 sec and after the Batt Check it says "Over Voltage" What is Over Voltage ? It says 7.4V on the Batt. It says 7.4V on the charger. I am stumped. What do I do now ? Using the stock charger is like watching paint dry or grass grow. Thanks Smitty |

As far as what is written on the batt it'self, or the accual voltage as it sits right now ? My RC stopped, so I assumed the batt was dead, or at least at or below 3.2 V ?

The Thunder AC6 doesn't auto-detect? My charger does and only gives errors if cells are under current. Do you have another LiPo you can try, maybe your charger is funky, or the balance plugs are different perhaps. Just plugging in doesn't signify proper type.

Is this a new battery or charger? If not, did it work before or suddenly go funky? Do you have a different battery (or can borrow one from a local) to check your charger? Will it charge if you just charge it, not balance? |

I took it to my LHS and they tested both batts, both are at 3.1v per cell. They had axtra lipos there and we hooked up several, with the same results. I am betting on a bad charger. NitroRCX will get a call from me on Monday to replace this Thunder AC6. Thanks for all the help guys ! Smitty PS, I will use stock charger supplied with truck and wait 5 to 6 hours. PSS: Yes, new charger, right out of box. New Batts, first charge after I ran them in the truck till it stopped. I am using the balancer supplied with the charger and using the 2S slot that fits the 2S plug on the Batts. No, will not charge in any mode. Also tried to charge a MiMH with same results. BAD Charger ! Last edited by XtrmTJ; 05-07-2011 at 02:29 PM. |

Well, at least you have a fistfull of testing to pass onto the vendor when you call. Likely, they will just say, "Yep, it's DOA......we'll send you a new one, send us the old one". |

I use an AC6, and its been great. But a wise man once said, "things typically work, until they don't". I had a defective radio that was purchased from nitrorcx, I email and received a response back with an RMA # the next day, they should take care of you on your issue.

I love my AC6. Had it a month now. Sucks that yours was DOA. You will like it when it works. Can't beat the price
