Turns is the amount of times the copper wire is wrapped around the armature. A 16t would have the wire wrapped 16 times around each part of the motor armature. Typically, crawler motors are 35t - 55t, depending on the truck. As you go up in the winds you gain torque but lose RPM and overall power. As you go down, you lose torque, but you gain more RPM and overall power. 35t is the most popular, but it really depends on the truck and driver to select the correct motor. Later EddieO |

T stands for "Turns" and the number is how many times the wire is wrapped or turned around the motor armature. Although there are many variable in a motor, in general if all other things are equal, a higher turn motor will have less RPMs, more torque and draw less current than a lower turn motor. |

ok so for a mini pro, what would be a good turn and motor? i had a mini rtr and now have a pro, i just swapped electronics plus i added a losi 7.4v 600mAh battery and novak stop smart. i am also running a 58 spur and a 20 pinin. i love the speed and torque i have. im looking in to buing a esc and am thinking going brushed with the tekin b1r but dont know what motor to go with. i would like to keep the speed and torque i have, more torque would be ok. im just a basher not a racer, on a budget so am i thinking right buy going brushed or is brushless the way i should go? |

A lot of people prefer the brushed but the same could be said about brushless. As for as torque and how many turns you should have that is also up to preference. If you want more torque then get a motor with more turns and see how out like it. The best thing about this hobby is the options so why not have an extra motor.

Promax makes or made a 280 sized 45t that used neodymium magnets. Nice little motor for the MRC! Search the MRC page for "promax". |
