Default another r/c crawler newbie

Hey, gettin into r/c crawling, picked up my first truck two days ago for $100. Used once then thrown back in the box.

Not planning too much for it, I'd like to get a 1.9 and an XR or Moa since i live so close to the beach I figure It'd be nice to go everywhere.

For now picked up some 2S 1kmAh sky-lipo's and a dynam DC6 since the turnigy accucell is sold out for a good price.

At this point I'd like to throw the battery onto the front axle and the esc, and RX onto the front links & get some rovers. then weigh down the front with some 357 or 38 special bullets.

Best place to start is on the last page of the AX-10 forum, from back in the day when they first came out.

ax10 is a great starting rig thats what i started with and moved up later to my berg but that doesnt mean anything about the ax10 being any worse than a moa this year in our season an ax10 ended up with the top spot for our region so that goes to show its not the car its the driver if you learn the rig you could win it all.

just bought 12 revo link ends, some rovers, CPE servo, JD BTA kit & VP knuckles. adhesive wheel weights & then picking up some all thread when i get the link ends in to match the thread type since i don't know what it is yet. then making a front 4 link set up.

slowly implementing these into the build as I go to see what changes what. so far about $160 in parts + 60 in 3 batteries & charger. Pacific grove here i come.

starting to think i want a 2.4ghz set-up as this antenna is gonna get old pretty fast being in my face.

since i'm here, has anyone ever heard of someone replacing the steering wheel on the controller with a paddle of some kind?

Yes you definitely want the 2.4, you will never want am or fm again unless its on your car stereo

other problem with 27mhz out here is there are some very powerful cb radio clowns that have some pretty crappy amplifiers causing serious interference, thankfully they only come on in the evenings, but night wheeling on a busy night is a NO GO... unless you want your crawler going for a dip in the ocean.

looking great! I may have skipped over this, but you will want aluminum links. Montereys a killer spot. along with that, it really puts your rig to the test of durability.

as for 2.4ghz, since you mentioned you would also like to run a Xr, I would reccomend the dx3c if your on a budget. if you've got the money, 4pl would be a treat

ah okay, if your on budget, a new servo, would be a hitec 7950th would be an excellent buy although its 150. if your looking for cheaper, a savox 1258tg is okay, with 277oz torque, 0.13sec on 6.0v

i would suggest a Tekin FX-R if you can i believe it is pretty popular with AX-10. Let alone crawlers.

You wont stop buying, now you need a holmes motor hahaha. Buy the best or close to it when you make your purchases so you dont have to buy the same things 2-3 times.....Thats what I did on a few different parts of my rig
