Default wraith VS r1

my dad and i want to buy koh style crawler so we want to know what will be less pricy after some time
i know that the wraith come rtr witch save some cash but if you want faster/stronger motor you need to pay...and the after market...
and the r1 is 280$ without shiping and i need motor, esc, radio and servo but i dont know aboute the after-market
whitch one is better and whitch one will be less pricy?

The Wraith will always have more aftermarket support, it's an Axial. I have only seen the R1, never driven it. I have heard you need to modify it to get better steering from it (R1).

I own a Wraith and can tell you it is a good rig right out of the box. The only aftermarket part I have is the Vanquish steering link, the main link not the short link.

There are some easy, free mods for the Wraith to lower it, check the Wraith section. Another thing I did with mine is change the gearing from 20/80 to 16/87. It helps with crawling and over-heating the stock motor.

My vote is for the Wraith...
