| (vmg) does this look scale enough ?
hey guys this is my first attempt at any type of rc, not just a crawler and i know what a real lifted truck looks like but i want some constructive criticism (just dont get carried away) lol. also im waiting to put the drive shafts in because if enough people say that it doesnt look right i want to fix the rod links with out having to re-cut the shafts. |

Looks pretty good. I'm curious how you mounted your shocks to the lower links. However you may get better articulation if you relocate the shocks to the axles themselves. Increasing the angle of the shocks should help it some. Better yet, try to locate some Minizilla shocks. They're longer and would allow you to locate the shocks inside the fenderwells rather than having 'em poke out from under the rocker panels... If you're going for scale, I'd get a 6-cell stick pack (like the ones for the RC18T) and put it in the stock location. This requires trimming off the backstop on the stock battery plate. I've never been a fan of the battery on the axle. It's just fugly, in my opinion. Last edited by K_B; 05-18-2006 at 02:12 PM. |

I agree with KB. A "Scale" look will have the wheel directly under the wheel wells. I think that is a great start exspecially for your first attempt. Keep it up. And if you like the way it handles leave it unless you are wanting to go scale. |

When your rig is done, it does have potential as a crawler, but as a scale crawler? No, outside of the scale body, there is nothing scale about your truck. | |

i wanted it to be fully capable, but i understand that the wheel wells are where the tire should sit but note the only thing i have done is body posts, since i got the body, i also thought they were a little too high in the rear , but for doing it all by eye im kinda proud , yeah i am hopefully going to get a set of minizilla shocks and aws, i will more than likely redo the links but for now i just wanted to try the gear reduction out. with the "scale" body this was the best body i could find at the end of my search. the shocks are mounted by an oval shaped tab and then i had to bend it and tap a hole through so the ball ends could screw in, not including the body/elects this cost me $28 in all to do. not too bad but thanks for the input sorry about calling it scale, i want it to look like a real lifted truck. i have more pics too lmk. |

For a more scale appearance try using the nylint 1/18th scale wheels and tires. They look alot better than the VMG tire/wheel combo and give better diff clearance.
