Default Newbie with a Wraith on the way, few?'s

Complete newbie here that ordered a RTR Wraith for my son (almost 9) for Christmas. Already found my first mistake, just realized RTR doesn't come with a battery or charger. So what is reccomended for it to mostly do crawling? And where's the best place to get these? I have a fullsize crawler and that is what he really likes. Any other suggestions would greatly appreciated as I have NO knowledge of RC's. But just from looking this hobby can be just as expensive as the real thing

Most of us are running a 2s 25c 5000 mAh lipo battery, this will give you about and hour or more of run time between charges and is a perfect fit in a Wraith. I get most of my batterys from Value Hobby, you can get both batterys and chargers on their web site.

Other then a battery you're going to want a couple of ho up parts...I'm also a noob, but here's what I've been through with my wrait...first you need to upgrade to the axial universal shafts folr the front diff...the stock dog bone will quickly help you to bust your hubs and knucles..in my case the shfts came at the same time as the luminum knuckles and hubs...the next thing that went was the stock servo...I upgraded to a hitec 7955...I also upgraded the tires and shock, but that was more of a choice...
Seems from what I've seen on the Wraith forum the next thing to go will likely be the motor, so I picked up a spare for when it does go...

Oh and hardware...you should take the harware out of the stock rtr on the sterring and put it back in with some super glue or something, this thing has lost screws on me like it was it's job....
