Default benefits of dual esc

Other than motor biasing, what other benefits does having dual escs vs. 1 esc and punk dig have? Can the rear motor be biased more than 100% I understand slowing the rear motor down for steep inclines.

Its all about the proportional control.

I use it everytime I drive. It can make lines effortless when you get the hang of it.

You can tune out stall on the fly.

A to your Q, Instead of going more than 100% in the rear you slow the front down. Rare instances require this but I have used this feature numerous times.

The more you drive the more you will see how much benefit it is. 1 ESC+ punk dig is like a clodstalling shafty with more ground clearance. Half way to a MOAs potential.

If your building a crawler from scratch, it is not anymore expensive really.

The onlky time I could see a single esc setup being recommended is if you have a Spektrum and wanna keep it. Which I don't understand at all. Horrible radios.

When my son first built my 2.2 Bully comp rig for Christmas last year, it had a single ESC and a servo dig. It worked well.
Then I converted it to dual ESC's with a WantAmix to work with my Futaba 3PM-x. Much better.

You can set it up to underdrive/overdrive either end a bit if you want, then you can dial in more/less bias depending on what you want to do.
You also still have full front/rear dig (just like a Punk dig or servo dig).

If I had a choice (and I do, actually) I would pick dual ESC's on a MOA.

I turn the rear up to 120% to make gap jumps and various uphill climbs that need it.

thank you for all the replies. I like the idea of being able to turn either motor up over 100% Thought one could get rid of clos stall with smaller pinion in the rear. I was considering going the easy/lazy way with one esc. But i don't want to limit rigs potential. I need all the advantages i can get. lol Once again. Thank you all

I've had one for about five years and no problems. I guess I'm using it wrong.

I know this thread is quite old but with the release of the Novak M2 would anyone fill me in on its performance over dual ESC +DIG.

I've read a number of things about the M2, both good & bad. Do a search for "M2" in the subject line to thin the returns a bit.

As to dual ESC's, depending on your radio you can do dual ESC's with dig/mixing (proportional) straight from the radio or with an external device (like a WantAmix) to run dual ESC's.
Either way, you do NOT need a "dig unit" with dual ESC's.

I had a single ESC with a servo dig on my 2.2 MOA. It worked OK, now I'm running dual ESC's with a WantAmix for my Futaba 3PM-x (3 channel radio). It works a lot better, has dig & front/rear mixing.
