Default Waterproofing?

I am planning on getting a project box from RS so I can waterproof my electronics in my SCX10. My question is. I am running a 2 cell with banana connectors. Are you waterproofing the battery as well? Should I put it in a balloon or something?
I don't plan on submerging the truck I just want to be able to run in lite rain, possibly snow and wet/damp trails.

No need to waterproof a LiPO battery, it already is. Salt water or high Iron content water may not be great for the battery connection, but then again, either one is also bad for pretty much everything else on the rig.

I balloon my lipo's now because after running them under water a few times, they got puffy.
I don't know for sure it was the water... but better safe than sorry.

i did this too and it works good.

likestocrawl-pretty much most nicd, nimh and lipo batts should be waterproofed already. i'd just do like what was said above and wrap the open parts with electrical tape, especially where the wires go into the battery.

dont forgot to seal up your steering servo too. pull it off truck, take off the horn, take out the 4 tiny screws, split cases apart, add a dab of like marine grease or something on the splined shaft, put cases back together and put horn back on and thats it.

Salt water is what is used to deactivate a LiPo for disposal.

+1 on the liquid electrical tape, i used it on the stock scx10 esc, and ballon the lights and reciever, done it to 2 trucks now,

as for the lipos, i runny 2s 5000mah zippy flightmax hard cased,

they take the water super well, if i ever buy a battery that cost more than 30 bucks, then i wont use it in a crawler anyways, so i never worry about waterproofing them, just watch for some brand spec batteries, some have circuit boards, they DONT handle water
