Default wheel base and bent links?

I am about to do the 540 upgrade from ZNO on my rs10 and since i will have to bend the lower links to clear my motors Im worried about altering my wheelbase too much.

I'm wondering if anyone knows the standard wheelbase for 2.2 comp crawlers down here in San DIego?

Thanks in advance,

M.

2.2 rules say no longer than 12½ inches, most people run slightly under that to make sure they're never over. Bending your links won't change the wheelbase very much unless you go for a severe angle.

A 30 degree bend towards the end of the link will reduce the eye-to-eye by about 1/8" - 3/16" depending on the total length of the original length....if your original link was 5"...you may be reduced to about 4-7/8" or 4-13/16" depending on your suspension setup, and if you did both front & rear the total WB loss could be about 1/4" - 3/8". This could be rectified with adding a small spacer to the end of the link to compensate, or a longer rod end trimmed to make up the difference. I know that I would not want to lose 3/8" of WB in my comp rig, so I would adjust as necessary.

Or you could make some links, bend them for clearance then cut them to the length you need.

You could use this formula to build bent links and have them come out the correct length without having to trim them after they are bent.

Length of tube consumed in a bend = CLR (center line radius)
(center line radius) x DOB (degree of bend) x .01745
