Exclamation Please help identify this chassis!

Hi, I recently purchased this online and am interested in building something nice out of it. I would really appreciate any information as to what chassis this is and specifically what transmission and drive shafts I could use on it. Thanks, Toddundy

TLT-1 chassis. Looks like an aftermarket one made for the original tranny.

Wow, I have been scouring the net looking for anything even close to resembling this chassis and found nada. The TLT-1 chassis is a good lead, still not a wicked lot of info about it jumping out at me but much closer that I've gotten on my own, Thanks!

You probably won't find much info on it. For rock crawling most people used the axles and a different trany and chassis. The axles are pretty strong and you still see them on scale builds. You could use the stock trany if you can find one but anything else would depend on the width inside the chassis.

For drive shafts the easiest thing would be to remove the drive cups and get some traxxas stampede shafts.

Aah I noticed there was a link to the traxxas stampede shafts which also included Tamiya as recommended uses. The kit I got also came with 4 Proline 4.26'" Bowtie ss tires with memory foam inserts. Seems like the closest thing I can find for a tranny is this: Tamiya TLT-1 Carbon Chassis with Transmission, and Mounts. No Reserve! | eBay Think it might do the job? It appears to be very similar to the original belt drive that came with the TLT-1. By drive cups do you mean the cv joint like part on the front and rear diffs? Thanks again for your input here.

Yes that would work. You might want to look through the TLT section to see what others have done first though. There's better stuff out there then the stock parts.

Ok will do, any other thoughts as to fun mods for a starter rig like this? I have a 12 channel radio and plenty of extra servos kicking around.... I was thinking about mounting a Gopro2 camera on this some how and also some decent lighting for night running. Also some of those multi-gear or 3 speed transmissions have caught my eye.

All those ideas sound great your really only limited to your own imagination. There is a tremendous amount of info and ideas on RCC so look around and get an idea of what you want to do before jumping in.

It's much easier to look at a chassis and think "Can I turn this into a Chevy scaler?" instead of thinking "What could I do with this?". Having an idea or inspiration is the start of most projects. Look around and see what you want. Do you want a comp crawler, scaler, mud bogger, rock racer, etc. Once you see what you like then you can look at your chassis and ask "Can I make this into that?" The axles are very usable and will work for a couple applications. The chassis, well many people didn't like it and modified it, or changed it out. It's about what style of rig you want.

That chassis was made by Junfac. They no longer make it.
