Default Need info for first crawler

I was wondering which transmission and axles to use for my first crawler. I can gather I will be told the TLT axles/ diff but I was wondering if I should use the same trucks transmission??? I'm in Australia where the TLT is not found, are there any shops that will send stuff to me?
Thanks guys

The traxxas Magnun 272 transmission (found in the Stampede, Rustler, and Bandit)is often used, as is the AE Stealth, or even a Losi. The belt drive is the downfall to the stock TLT transmission. Check out the For Sale and Vendors sections here, someone may be willing to help you out. Or you can always check out online sites and eBay, just be sure they ship to Australia before you purchase.

as you can see, the TXT is available. Are they OK for axles and Trans?
Kyosho, HPI and Tamiya are the common ones but I liked the look of the TLT diffs.

Nice, I might have a look at them then, I didn't see much on them so I figured the TLT's were the go. What does 2.2 mean

Hi, I am also from OZ and am still modding my TXT. Getting it cheap off EBay could be a good option ( only if it is cheap). To make mine into a fairly capable crawler I have purchased New rims and tyres, wheel adaptors, ESC, 2 driveshafts, 2 servos, 2 servo savers and I havn't finished. Which comes to about $600 on top of the truck which was $650. If I had my time again I would seriosly look at doing it a different way and not have lots of useless spare bits left over.

Regards
Nigel.

id be willling to buy a couple of TLT-1's and send to ya in Au, shipping might be tough though.

2.2 is the wheel size, and a requirement for class competition

And a cheaper option would be to send just the axle parts and you can assemble there. Doubledub here on the site has axle sets ready to ship......the size would be smaaller and half the weight......and you wont need to use much of what comes in the kit

Buying just the axle parts would be better as I'm interested in making my own chassis and 4 link but I just bought an old Mugen Bulldog to play with so I'll have to wait a bit to get the axles. I might track down Doubledup and see how much he wants!
Thanks for the info

The TLT-1's are the 1/18 aren't they? Do they use the same axle assemblies as the 1/10?

How about 2 speed transmissions like the one in the Traxxas Emaxx, twin motor 14.4 V, has anyone done a setup with any multi speed trannies?

most of the emax guys run 7.2V and one motor. we also lock the transmission into first gear.
