Default 8.4 volt batteries

Can I run 8.4 volt 7 cell batteries in my stock honcho? The only reason I'm asking is there is a pretty good deal on Craigslist by me. I'd like to scoop them up to have extra batteries, but I want to be sure I'm not going to burn up my truck

You'll be fine on 7 cell, but if you have the AE-2 esc and you have the auto-lipo turned on, your esc will probably fail to initialize. The fully charged voltage of a 7 cell is pretty close to the voltage of a nearly dead 3S LiPo, so turn off the Low Voltage Cutoff when you throw in a 7 cell.

I don't know how good the internal BEC is on your ESC, but on my AE-1, I got a lot of glitching jumping to 7 cell. Your ESC might not be as finicky, though, no way to tell 'til you try it. Adding a CC BEC fixed that issue. (also gave me the ability to run 8-9 cell NiMhs and 3S Lipo)
