Default Throttle stuck wide open

Took the scaler to the park yesterday and as I was doing a hill climb the throttle stuck wide open. I was happy my daughter was standing there and it ran in to her and she was able to shut the switch off. It didn't seem to have any steering either. What causes this? The battery was fresh off the charger and I was maybe 6 feet away from it. Could the batteries in the controller be going bad? I unplugged everything and reconnected it and it hasn't happened since. But I've only ran it a couple times testing it out. I'm just worried it's going to take off on me and I won't have someone standing there to stop it next time lol lol.

Specs: Tekken FX-R and Axial AR-3 receiver. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

By controller I believe you mean the transmitter? If so than yes, the TX batteries could be low and causing the issue.

I would check each cell in the TX, it may be all are bad/used up, or 1 or more that have failed/are failing.

This is why some radios have a "fail safe", when the RX loses a signal, it can be set to shut off the ESC.

Yeah I meant transmitter. Sorry man I'm very new to all of this. I just purchased a fail safe last night. If my daughter wouldn't have been standing there all I would have left is pieces of the scaler. We were on a huge hill and that thing wanted to GO! lol lol. I'll replace the batteries and go hit the trails again. Thanks Charlie!! You guys are always a ton of help on here. I appreciate it.

No problem, lots of peeps here glad to help.

Either we did it ourselves, or we read it happen to someone else.

Glad it wasn't worse.

Lol! I've been asking her is she wants her own crawler but she said she wants one she can jump. So I'm going to surprise her with the new Axial Terra Buggy this weekend. I found a smoking deal on one on Craigslist. Hopefully she loves it as much as I love crawling!

Thanks again Charlie!

RX battery? Don't you run it off the BEC inside the TX (ESC wire to RX also powers the RX)?
Or, do you mean "TX" battery?
