Default why base scale off wheel size?

why are there sections for scalers based on wheel size intstead of body size? just tryig to figure it out since a 1/10 truck with 1.9's is going to be a different size and look odd next to a 1/8 on 1.9's

You have a good point. How many real purpose built jeeps and crawlers are going to run a 22" wheel. 19" maybe but never a 22". BFG has a commercial making fun of big wheels on a rock buggie.

Before the new Scale Rules came out, that was just a way of dividing the classes. Not to mention that there really are not many 1/8 scale bodies out there to divide them up like that. It's all what your shooting for when you build a scale rig. For example, 4.5" tall tires on a 1/10ish scale body would be 45" tall tire with 19" wheels which isn't unheard of in 1:1 with all the TCC and hill climbers. And with 1/8ish scale body, that same 4.5" tall tire becomes a 36" tall tire on 15" wheel in 1:1.

I don't know, you see quite a bit of the big wheels in real world rigs, and especially on the big tire ones.

Yeah if you are running tractor tires. 20" seems to be the largest wheel used and that's only for 54" or bigger tires. On the tall tires like that to much side wall is no good. But 22" on a 38"-40" tire looks like shit and you loose flex in the tires. Just my opinion

I do agree it should be based on over all tire size and wheel base ect not a size of the rim .

i personally like the look of a 22" wheel with a set of 35s but only on fullsize trucks. i had a 1:1 '98 12 valve wth 20" wheels and 33s it worked nice for hookin sleds and tuggin less sidewall flex helped to keep the wheelhop down

If you read the rules, the classes are divided like that.
