im new to the crawler thing.but i love the scale look and bought a venom to modify.its a good truck has the stock venom motor with a axial esc.i know its a crawler so its got low gears, high torque,etc....but i still want to be able to drive on trails and stuff faster than a turtle.i been looking at the goat motor and esc compos..if i do something like that will it move alittle faster? or can i just change the pinn gear? also is there anyhting wrong with putting a stock traxxas esc and brushless motor in it? sorry for all the questions but please help me

A brushed 35T motor and 2S LiPo should get you well above "turtle" speed, and possibly past walking pace as well.

I have a couple videos for you. this video is with a 7.2 pack in stock location and a 55t novak motor with a 27t pinion and a duratrax esc out of an evader. Venom Creeper - YouTube This video has a 2800kv brushless motor and esc. Both Tazer brand. Stock 15t pinion. In this video I use both a 2S and a 3S battery. I stretched the creeper and got the battery lower too. Venom Creeper Brushless LIPO - YouTube This video is straight 3S battery, other then some shock work its the same set up as the other video. 3S Brushless Venom Creeper - YouTube For where I am there is no technical/precision rock crawling, only sand and dirt hills. So I like both the 2S and 3S batteries in mine. I have had some driveshaft issues though, especially the front. If you do a lot of really technical crawling then stay with a nice brushed set up. You'll save parts too. Hope these videos help. Last edited by Exocaged; 03-04-2013 at 07:08 AM. |
