Default Battery Building

I have some matched cell sticks and I'm going to split them to run on my axles. What is the best way to build these and do they need to be discharged before starting.

No they don't. Be sure to use a very hot soldering iron so you can solder fast and not heat up the batteries too much.

I'm building them for TXT axels.I have to get the COG down alot.I aready have a good idea of what I need to do to the truck ,Hack the frame ,move the shocks, and lower it alot. Also i'm putting a GD 600 on it and remounting the tranny on its side...... ..So do I need a special solder for this batt. build? I already have the bars, wire, shrinkwrap. I just want to be sure before I start.

I use the normal Rosin core solder, works 100% perfect.... scratch the end of the batteries really well, make a area for the solder to seat in to(like u would for JB Weld)(if u have ever used that)
... Like FrankyRizzo said get the batteries hot enough but dont over heat them... I will add, if the solder is not seating to the battery,STOP!!! scratch it more and re try

Good luck

60/40 electrical solder works best, make sure you use flux. Youll want to grind/scuff the surface of each cell. Make sure you use a very good/hot Iron and tin the battery and the bars that you are using. Solder quickly and dont allow alot of heat to transfer into the cells.

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but when building batteries, how should you wire them so that you don't increase the voltage, only the "mah"?

Cheers 8-)
