It's designed to use Clod axles.

What are you going to be using for axles, or is that still undecided?

The NN is a great choice, I used it for my first crawler build, and found it to be a great chassis, and the instructions are really good too.

actually, if you go throught the clod gallery and look at some of the NN's people have set up for comps, you will notice, they have their ESC's and batteries down on the axles there, too. if you are using a regular NiMH pack, having it over the axles, and it getting banged up will not hurt the batteries, trust me, i have enough nicks in my pack's shrink wrap to show that. also, the ESC on the rear axle is no big issue, either. any half decent ESC will be able to take the abuse of being there, and getting banged up.

I bought the complete chassis kit, not the RTR truck. I added axles I bought used. I would recommend going this way if it's your first build. The only major change I've made to the chassis is to add Agressor BTA steering on the front axle.

I also don't like a bunch of stuff hanging out on the axles. I run the batteries in the chassis, and made a plate to mount the ESC and RX on.
