| micro servo for 2.2 winch?
Do you guys think I could use a mini servo for a winch on a 2.2 tube chassis buggy. I'm thinking like the ones from the RC18MT, or the mini t? I am happy to use a full size servo, but I would be much happier if I could run a mini servo. So what do you think.

The mini servo probably wouldn't have enough power. You want something that could lift the truck off the ground. A hitech 475hb could barely pick my TLT up off the ground. And with a tube chassis, you're going to need something pretty powerful.

I'm using a 645 and it picks up my Truggy at 10lbs. It struggle but it does it.

You could geardown the servo to get more torque out of it and make a winch drum. To make the drum you will need a 1/4" shaft two set screw hubs, a 32 pitch gear of your liking, attach one hub to the sahft then the gear to the hub, then set the space you want on the drum with the other hub, then attach your winch line to the gearless hub and have fun. If you have any questions feel free to ask. Steve |
