Default pinion moves sideways during flex

Im building a tuber/tlt for my son. I have moved the lower links up outa the way ( from the stock location on the axle). I have put the L-plate on top for the uppers , then I noticed the pinion moves side to side during flex.
Is this normal ?
on my old tuber the pinion stays dead center during flex ( the axle mounts are stock).

how much is it moving? looking at mine and cycling the sus it does move slightly to one side or the other if one side is compressed and not the other. if its only a little i'd say your fine, your shafts u-joints or ball/cup joints will compensate for this. if its alot you probably need to rethink your link mounting points.

I can minimize it by lowering the uppers at the axle. I saw another rig that did it slightly too and it competed very well . I have seen utrcrc rigs with this same set-up.

The cause is your location of roll center. It is not centered on your pinion. If your upper links are very high, it will cause the pinion to move in a lazy U shaped arc.

I wouldnt worry about the pinion swaying if your rig performs well. The roll center in relation to the chassis CG is more important than the axle.
