Default Hiya all I have ftx spyder rockcrawler

Right guys and girls I am new to rock crawlers at the moment I have ftx spyder rockcrawler it has a 70t motor in it I think it's way to fast for what would me the best option for it cheers from rob

Hate to break it to you, I don't think you're going to get a ton of help. Basically unless your rc is based off of a previously successfull platform, or from a well-established company, aftermarket parts are going to be limited to non-existant. Rockcrawlers are already a niche in the rc niche market. Unfortunately from what I can find online, the ftx spyder doesn't have a large following. You may still be able to improve it, but it is going to rely on you being crafty. Things like moving to a smaller battery over the front axle could help.

As for the motor... that's a whole different story. Generally the higher the turn motor, the more torque and less speed. I've heard a lot of people complain about 55t motors being too slow, so saying a 70t is too fast leads me to believe that gearing is far different than Axial or Vaterra. My guess is that you can drop to a smaller motor pinion, but I'll let a more knowledgeable person speak to that.

Sorry, not a lot of help...just not sure if you'll get much feedback on this model.

Thank you for you feedback I know I can put rear wheel steering on it from where I live in the UK there is a lot of stuff that will fit It just wanted to know about what type of motor to use lol

Why don't you try a 35t and gear it as low as you can to start with. For crawling you need a controllable slow, smooth powerful machine.
