Default Transmission Gears

Anyone know of a set of gears for the SCX10 Jeep 2012 rubicon unlimited? it seems to be a tough truck to find parts for that are specific to the truck.

Check out the metal tranny gears from Hot Racing. They are quite nice and very durable. Or if you mean axle gears I would go with the HD gears from Axial.

As mentioned the running gear is all the same through out the scx10 platform just the body is different. So any gear set for an scx10 should work fine for you.

OK then how many teeth does the stock spur gear have so I know which to order because they are not all the same.

Stock is 87 tooth I'm pretty sure. If you're changing spurs its probably a good time to switch to a 32 pitch spur and pinion. The drive ratio will depend what motor and batteries you're planning to run. It also depends what you want out of the truck. Do you want it to be fast, do you want to crawl exclusively, do you mostly trail run?

The stock spur gear (48p 87t ) is Axial part number AX30672.

Smile Re: Transmission Gears

Thanks K7 and Elchupacabra. allot of info. I am looking to crawl mostly. Not looking to go fast at all. What does the 32P do over the stock 48P and how many teeth should i get for nice slow steady crawling? and then if i change how many teeth on the spur it changes all of the gears does it not? or just stick with the 48 and just change the pitch?

I run this Hot Racing set in all my SCX transmissions.... Hot Racing Axial SCX10 AX10 Wraith hard steel center gears set

I also like to run this Hot Racing 57 tooth 32 pitch spur gear in my trail rigs... Hot Racing Steel Super duty 32P 57T Spur Gear Wraith

I run that spur with an 11 tooth 32 pitch pinion with a 20T motor in my Wraith and a Holmes Hobbies 2200kv brushless motor in my SCX10 Jeep. If you wanted to really focus on low end control and crawling I'd suggest the same spur with a 9 tooth 32 pitch pinion. Again, all of that kind of depends on what motor/esc you're running and what battery you're running. Stick packs vs 2s or 3s Lipos is a huge difference.

Chupa i recently bought shafts that said scx10 and they did not fit. will those hot racing gears fit my 2012 Jeep rubicon unlimited? I mean it is an scx10 but like i said some things it doesn't seem to matter. It has to be specific to the style.

Those gears should work in every version of the SCX10 transmission. Like I said, I have those in a Wraith and a SCX10. 56/16 is maybe a little aggressive but maybe not out of the question on 2S. Depends what motor/esc you're running. I'd just be cautious about heat and overworking the motor.

Me too, best steel gears available for the SCX10/AX10 tranny!

Avoid Robinson one piece lower gear, they are heavy and the outputs tend to twist off.

A 2200mah 2S or 3S lipo max is what I run, crawls way better without all that heavy battery up high in the chassis. Buy several and carry them in my pack, quick and easy to swap batteries.

I like 12/56 or 13/56 in SCX10 with Traxxas Titan 550 21T motor. Cheap, long lasting, crawls low speed and hauls azz.

Chupa i got the Gears but the 57 T spur and my stock pinion do not match. What pinion do i need to make this work???
