| RC4WD Trail Finder 2 good buy?
Looking for another truck and I was looking at the trail finder 2 kit. Just wondering if that would be a good buy or if I should go with another truck? Ty |

I love my TF2! Wouldn't trade it for the world. You ought to look through the Trailfinder 2 section on here. Pretty much anything you need to know about the TF2, all in one spot |

I have had plenty of SCX10's so I went with a TF2 for my latest truck. For the scale aspect the truck is awesome. Depending on how you wanna use it will be the determining factor though. These are great trucks for trail and crawling, you just cant drive them a scx10 though. The leafs can flex good with some mods or you can go linked. I built my TF2 kit and I love it. I just bought another used one thats linked just so i can have one of each lol. |

I have heard they can be fragile, problems with screws stripping the threading in the axles from what I hear but people still love them, if leaf springs interest you check out the sawback, its leafed and the same wheelbase as the tf2 so you can use hilux and blazer bodies like the tf2 does, heres mine, Last edited by dubyas1989; 11-06-2016 at 11:48 AM. |

The TF2 is a terrific little truck. My first one has been through 2 years of pretty heavy abuse, and the only casualty thus far has been a rear ring/pinion gear. Check out the TF2 guide stickied in the TF2 section here and on the RC4WD Forum: Team RC4WD's Comprehensive Guide to the TF2 |

so if i were to buy the kit version it wouldn't be a waste of my money? I'm starting to get into the more scale crawling.

Do you want scale looks or performance? The TF2 is a nice truck, but if you want something that performs better and is more durable give the GMade Sawback a look. I absolutely love my two.

For practical purposes, the RTR will still need the trans, & transfer case pulled to ensure they are adequately greased and the axles will need to be opened to make sure they are properly shimmed and greased as well. Just that is like building 3/4 of the chassis so might as well build the whole thing at that point. The only advantage to the RTR from my prospective is the body is molded in red so it is still red if your scratch it up (a big negative if you don't like red though). The kit version also gets you the 2 speed trans which adds to the TF2 experience.

I'm thinking about making it a tow/trail rig. Would that be a good place for that truck? I would be towing my scx-10 deadbolt that I'm going to upgrade soon

The TF2 should do just fine as a tow/trail rig. Just make sure to shim the axles properly and you should be fine. For towing duty, the 2-speed that comes with the kit version would come in handy. Last edited by THX_138; 11-25-2016 at 06:27 PM.

If you buy new you should be ok, RC4WD has made a lot of improvements. The kit I bought two years ago was a piece of crap. The preassembled parts all had to be taken apart and rebuilt, there were several "fixes" for bad parts in the kit that did not work (or made the issue worse), and the body was not made right. Once built, it looked REALLY good, but I'd only get about 5 minutes of run time before I'd have a problem. I put the latest Mojave body on my C1 truck and was pleased to see that they had corrected most of there issues. The windshield still does not fit right, but the rubber mirrors are 100 times better than what it had. The manual for the kit is pretty good until you get to the body. It only has basic instructions and few tips to help the builder out. And, it doesn't take take into consideration at all the installation of LEDs.
