Default Talk to me about driveshafts

I got myself a preowned AX10 deadbolt roller. I've ironed out some electronics issues, got it running. New links. Steering on the way to tighten that up a tad. Last night as I was giving it a shake down run, I popped some driveshafts off. I knew they were homemade and probably not the best jobs ever done, but didn't think they would pop out quite that easy. So now I'm on the hunt for some. Found a lot. Different brands and lengths. I'll be looking into getting slip type shafts. I'm thinking the 110mm-150mm range is what I'm looking at. Is this the correct length range I should be exploring for what I intend to be a slower speed, flexy crawler? Thank you in advance.

thank you for the thoughts. I'll see what I end up pulling the trigger on. I have a feeling I'll cheap out only to regret it and buy the better ones and have the cheap ones as back up... isn't that how it always ends up

I got MIP for my SCX10 over the WD8 HD but I have to say that either would be fine. The MIPs definitely didn't have the same articulation as the stock WB8's (not HD) and clicked where the WB8's were totally happy. I had to adjust the pinion angle by lengthening some links to stop the noise and jumpy low speed (as they were binding).

If I were to do it again, I'd probably just go for the WB HD's. I definitely like the MIPs as they seem really nicely built but the WB are simpler to replace and get parts for. Downside is that the WB HD's are trickier to get as a kit but if you can they are 20% cheaper. The HD's are very tough and reliable in my experience.

I ended up ordering a set of jazrider driveshafts off ebay. I don't know if theyre any good or not, but they caught my eye and I had purchased them before I had time to research what I was doing. That tends to happen to me occasionally. I'll get them and install and report back.
