| Axial or Incision Gears (Who is better?)
I am looking at hardened steel transmission gearsets and I need to make a judgement call on which brand to go with. Would you be willing to tell me your thoughts and/or experiences with these? The Axial set costs more. $50 compared to $30 for Incision by Vanquish. Are the Axials better? What about the ring and pinions offered by each of these companies? Is one superior? I'm sure this question has been asked before...but I am a newbie to the forum...so I am asking here!!! Thank you so much! Brandon |

Incision, SSD, and Hot Racing all make steel gear sets that will hold up to anything for about $30. Robinson Racing also makes very good gears although not in a complete set. I'm sure the Axial gear set is fine but others do the job equally well for significantly less money. As for axle gears, I have only used the Axial HD versions but no complaints there. |

Pretty much any hardened gears except the helical cut pineapple gears found on flea bay and amazon. Those gears side load the trans cases and cause flex issues. 8 refuse to use axial brand gears simply because the price is absurd. I've used hot racing and Robinson for years with zero issues. As for ring & pinions axial, hot racing, boom racing are all fine, I've used them all a good bit with no complaints. |

I just ordered some of my scx10 trans build: Vanquish gray case SSD hardened steel gears Fast eddy sealed bearings For axles i have never had or seen the axial gears fail (only use over and under gears though) |

I use Robinson Racing in all my Axial RCs. As mentioned, sold individually but only need 2 gears as the Axial idler gear is metal and I re-use it. I've never had an issue with the gear mesh between the Axial idler gear and the 2 Robinson Racing gears. And never stripped or broke any gears since I started using the Robinson gears. |

I have had good luck with robinson, axial, and vanquish. Hardened gears will be substantially stronger. Can't go wrong, just don't get some cheap knock offs. Might work out well, but precision cut gears might not be the best place to save $10. When you are running sticky tires and motors with more torque than stock, you'll start destroying gears and it makes for a crummy day
