Default Is this a Dumb Question

I am building my second Injora Cherokee "Logic says if you have 2 real Cherokee's you need 2 RC ones" I have noticed that the shocks are upside down? Is there a reason for this? On a real car they are normally the other way with the shaft on top pushing the piston down.
Can I flip the rc shocks I just dont like the look

You certainly can flip them, and many do. The weight of the shock is in the body, especially as that's where the oil is. Putting that weight lower down instead of higher up is certainly an advantage.

I can't think of any reason not to flip your shocks upside down. Maybe if your upper caps are really leaky, but if that's true, your shocks are going to leak either way.

shocks usualy have the shaft.coming out from the bottom of the shock body now struts have the shaft coming out the top
dose it matter no can you flip shocks so the shaft comes out the top yes can you flip a strut well in theory yes but it will only bolt on oneway

most shocks have different eyes top and bottom so you can only install the shock 1 way ive never seen a inverted shock from the factory but i know a guy who builds struts using of the shelf shocks and invets them to use as a strut and they work just fine

on the rc shocks just make sure your fluid is toped off all the way to the top or you will have a dead spot in the shock

I do find that with shocks running "inverted," the oil gets less gunky, or at least takes a lot longer to get gunky. Which is counter-intuitive, but here we are.

Never fear embracing the philosophy that "if it's stupid and it works, it ain't stupid." Half my rigs live by this.
