Default Recording with your phone/camera??

Hey crew, why do a lot of you guys seem like y'all know how to record with a phone/camera?

Why is it kinda hard for me?
Do you literally have to have a good hand eye coordination to do such a job?

I hate it so much 40% the rig is in the frame 60% out of whack???
For me it's a bummer,CUZ a lot of you guys make it look so simple and easy???

On a crawler a little easier cuz we're moving slow 80% truck is in the frame the 20 out?

So is it hand eye coordination ??

Again, many THANKS guys for helping me out!!

Most def takes some practice. What could help you is night time shooting with your flash on. You'll be more focused to train your movement on the truck since you're holding a light for it. Obviously the footage won't be as good but it can help you out.

I came to the conclusion not too long ago that this dog is too old to learn that particular new trick-- I have tried to drive and record at the same time, and it's a big, all-caps NOPE.

So I opt for a tripod with a fluid head, sitting on a bucket chair, and I just pan the camera to follow the action as required. Even at that, I occasionally drive out of frame.

I shoot news and other TV stuff for a living and still can't drive and shoot. One or the other ends up being crappy.

i have two ways i record while driving.

either i'm driving two trucks at once, one controller in each hand, with the gopro mounted to one of them

or i'm driving one truck with a gopro in my free hand. it takes some practice thats for sure. i feel like after i started driving two trucks at once, driving one and filming is easier

If I tried to film and drive at the same time I fear that the end result would be me laid up in the ER with a broken phone, broken rig, and broken ankle.

I'm envious of those that make it look easy.

Some options to make it easier, and since it was an older thread, by now I'd be surprised if there aren't more on Shapeways/Thingiverse.

Tactic (and Traxxas) Transmitter Camera Mounts - Who else?

Also, I bought a cheap tripod (basically a selfie stick with a small tripod base) from Amazon that I could set up if I was going to focus on on crawling spot repeatedly...

Only I haven't remembered to bring it with me yet!
