Smile New joiner! request to assistance with first Crawler.

Hi all! nice e-meeting you!
I am familiar with RC cars for quite some time now, I got multiple cars... Kyosho MP9 TKI3, Kyosho ST-RR Evo 2, Kyosho Scorpion B-XXL VE, Hobao Hyper VT, and Losi DBXL-e 2.0.

Anyway I've just found out that 2 friends of mine use Crawlers.
One with Axial Capra 1.9 4WS, and the other one is with Axial SCX10 III Gladiator.

I am looking to check the Crawler driving style, but wonder with which car should I start.
I read and watched lots of videos about the Vanquish VS4-10 KIT, but I did not see a Pro version available. so I was wondering to get the Phoenix Portal kit - WDYT?
Or should I just buy that Portal one RTR? or look at another car?
What should I consider to upgrade first? Most of my RC cars came as a kit, and if not - I was always taking them all apart and rebuilding based on my own favorite bearings (Fast Eddy bearings), Proline wheels, HW\Mamba motor\ESC, Savox servos, etc.
I would really appreciate for your feedback or let me know if I should move this post to another forum.

thanks in advance.

Welcome to RCC!

The Phoenix kit is a pretty solid choice. If you're already familiar with RC electronics I'd say go for the kit, if not the RTR might be a better choice. RTR electronics are not the best (weak servo, basic motor and ESC), aftermarket electronics can definitely do better but will cost a bit more.

First upgrade for me would be the tires/wheels, the stock tires work but aren't the best. Proline has a bunch of good options. Keep in mind they come in lots of different sizes but you should stick to a 1.9" tire thats 4.75" tall or shorter (stock is 4.6" I believe) so you dont have body clearance issues (BTW stock tires usually rub the body a bit at full compression/full lock anyway).

I'm pretty confident this is someone we remember from the recent past. Grammar, stories and brand-name dropping are all too familiar.

Guilty until proven innocent, the RCC way. No wonder site attendance is down.

I do. I also know that there are a few here that reply to every new members first post accusing them of being a troll or, someone who was previously banned. Not a very welcoming atmosphere.

In my post, I referred to three specific reasons for the conclusion I drew.

If you think I'm wrong, refute those reasons. Neither you nor the OP have done that.

I've never had a Nitro RC in my life :X just Electric ones.
Quick question, I've been waiting to BF deals...
I saw some deals about the Vanquish VS4-10 Phoenix Straight Axle Rock Crawler Kit - what is the process to convert it to the Portal Axles? Should I do this convertion as I build this kit?

I also considering purchasing the RTR this time, as it seems to be a great deal for BF! (Vanquish Products VS4-10 Fordyce RTR Straight Axle Rock Crawler)- it is 10$ more than the kit...

we have a saying " it dident happen with out pics " a few pics of your collection would go along way to establish credibility
and stock pics or pics pulled from Google don't count

Buy it, rtr's are some of the best bang for the buck deals! If you want portals, go with the Pheonix rtr...

@lonleycreeper, The kit based on the Portal axles canot be sent to my location, also an RTR based on the Portal axles costs about 200$ more!!! - that's why I ask how much it will cost to convert a straight axle to Portal?; based on the new chassis of course F10
