Badger...you are so impatient with the noobs!

As for the tires: You'll want between 6 and 7 inches tall
Width is going to coincide with that height at about 4-5 inches wide.
The tread pattern will typically be something that is a little stiff and unpliable. You'll need to cut the tread pattern up a bit.
The BFT tire is a great tire to use. Some of the IMEX tires are very nice as well. The clod / TXT tire is ok if modified a lot.
If you start to get adventurous, you'll start completely modifying tires. Narrowing, cutting tread pattern, etc.
There is also the new IMEX Kroc tire that promises to be close to perfect.......but it's yet to be seen or tested by any of us. The spec make it sound good. 7 inches tall, 3 inches wide, sidewall tread and an overall designed used by the BFG Krawler tire. Hope this helps.

ACE replied in a duplicate thread- deleting duplicate thread.

Tough to answer.

My favorites are:

MGT (associated BFT truck tires) (big)
Savage tahrs (med)
Masher 2000's (small)
Proline dirt-dawgs (smaller still)

I don't mean to be a hard ass, but I did a search for "best tires" and it came up with 225 results. A few of them with the exact same question.

I have nothing agaist noobs, as I was a noob just a short while ago. I also have built several extremly busy sites, and know how it gets when noobs do not take some time and search or just browse for there question first.

I have also seen guru's like yourself get burnt out from all the repetitive questions, and go else where. I am not saying that you would do that, since you are SO DAMN NICE! Maybe I should hang out with you for a bit and your niceness would over power my assness.

Anyway I think I need to go kill something....

Believe me......I am only nice to fellow rc'ers, my kids and my wife. Everyone else on the planet thinks I'm the biggest asshole that ever lived.
But you are right......everyone needs to search something before the question is asked....especially if the question is so general.
It's that damn Oracle Company you work for.......that has changed you into the hardass you are today!

One thing I've learned in business is to never leave someone haning. Never tell them to go find the information for themselves. It takes very little effort to help someone to get started. Once they get started, they can usually go off down the road on their own. I also think that if you have the answer or knowledge and someone needs that information, why not share it. Sometimes the knowledge can come with a cost but this is, for the most part, a free forum.

One set of tyres gets forgotten every time this question is asked and they are the Juggy tyre.Taller and narrower than stock Clod TXT tyres ,a taller tread lug and very nice rubber compound they would have to be one of the best available,if cut right and on narrowed rims they will out perform many other tyres that are arround today.
Most of the new tyre patterns ,while going for a nice soft sticky compond, have forgotten to make the lug depth large .They have gone for a slim line lug pattern and will lose out every time.
The new Imex tyre looks like the real deal but again i think that the lug depth is too small.Look at the real Crawlers and they are a nice deep pattern but while the manufacturers still go for these ''racing '' styled tyres they will not work as well as they could.
Sorry dirk i dont find you that nice

Hey guys i'm new but this thread is part of why I joined. I have never been a fan of the standard "use the search button" reply because this forum is so popular that when you google the same or similar question it will bring up the most relevant or most recent thread about tires in this instance. then I have to scroll down through a bunch of guys telling you to use the search button. The problem with the search button is that a lot of times you have to filter through a bunch of old crap that a lot of times gives you results of products that are no longer the "best" because new products come out and products become discontinued. Sometimes what's "best" now isn't what was best when a previous question was asked. Think of it like this "what is the best rc crawler?" is a question asked now that would have had a different answer if you asked it 5 years ago. The old outdated threads need to be deleted....look at the xr10 bible for instance.

oh yeah, pipdango! see what the other dudes in your area are running. a lot of times a tire that works great on one type of terrain doesn't work well on others. The guys where i'm from like HB Rovers, HB sedonas, Team Ottsix voodoos and pitbulls. I have HB rovers on most of my stuff and I like them but try the Voodoo's if you want something a little bit taller.
